Sustainable Blog Edition #12.

Why Pilates? The real question is why not Pilates and why haven’t you started incorporating it into your workout regime? Whether you’re on a mat or on specialized equipment, the purpose is centered around the breath, core activation, and slowly controlled movements. Don’t let the small core-focused exercises fool you, the benefits of Pilates are extensive and at Club Pilates the benefits are for everybody.

Some of the Benefits of Pilates

1. Balance:

Pilates is all about balance. The small movements are slow and because of that you need to engage your core muscles in order to keep position.

2. Move Better:

One of Club Pilates’ beliefs is that pilates will make you move better. The full range of motion offers flexibility because of its focus on strengthening and stretching. “To bend without breaking,” Club Pilates.

3. Posture Improvement:

Pilates requires using the deep core muscles of the abdominals, back and pelvic floor to support your posture allowing your shoulders and neck to relax. Activating those muscles will overtime benefit your posture because have those areas strong help you continue to engage them when without thinking about it, therefore, improving your posture.

At Club Pilates North 3rd in Brooklyn, New York the general manager, Alonzo Blanc encourages mindfulness within his staff and that translates into how instructors teach their classes.
