Sustainable Blog Edition #6. 7.20.21 - 1:00PM
We all have a love for travel, but traveling in style doesn’t have to take down our earth with it. There are so many hotels in the world that have made efforts to become green. We made this list of three of our favorite sustainable NYC hotels in all different locations of New York to make your search easier the next time you plan to visit the big city.
1. 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge—60 Furman Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201
The 1 Hotel has taken sustainability to another level. The hotel is equipped with efficient energy systems that feature low-energy LED light bulbs, has carbon offsets to reduce their operational footprint, and a rainwater reclamation system that irrigates water from the rooftop down to the waterfront park. However, that’s not all— one of their restaurants, The Osprey, uses fairly sourced farm-to-table ingredients to bring the best sustainable cooking experience to NYC. This hotel will meet all your needs as well as fill your stomach with clean ingredients.
2. The Benjamin Hotel— 125 East 50th Street, New York, NY 10022
The Benjamin Hotel is all about going green and has created a program dedicated to it. Through their Environmentally Friendly program, The Benjamin Hotel is making an effort to be socially responsible as well as minimize carbon footprint with small changes to their amenities. They’ve made changes such as adding energy-efficient lighting, remote control thermostats, a recycling program, and much more. We’d definitely recommend staying at a hotel that is dedicated to conserving our natural resources.
3. Kimpton Ink48 Hotel— 653 11th Ave, New York, NY 10036
The Kimpton Ink48 takes the cake when it comes to being eco-friendly. The Kimpton was the first brand to become 100 percent portfolio-wide certified by the Green Key Eco-Rating Program and has won multiple awards for its environmental leadership. The Ink 48 Hotel is part of the TripAdvisor GreenLeaders™ program, and has developed partnerships with many different green companies. On top of that, their hotel uses nontoxic cleaning supplies, extensively recycles, and minimizes their water consumption as much as possible. That’s a big green thumb’s up from us!
